This is an old revision of the document!

Others

Brux suggested these guys Protest The Hero (2008/01/28). Proggy metal, I am intrigued!

Tasted

I heard the band RA today on a shoutcast, with a song called Sky that was heavy with nice singing (what a change… has the tide of growling finally turned?). The guitar solo was nothing flashy but tasteful. Is there hope Obi Wan? They've been around a while, and have changed a bit… not sure if they are the truth out there, but I really enjoy good singing. I think I'm just a progressive metal guy at this point.

Current

  • I've had these guys in my cd player for the last few years: Opeth

Other stuff that I've discovered the last few years that I listen to a lot (in alphabetical order):

Check out this page: http://www.gothicera.com/index.htm

I have really been enjoying At Sixes and Sevens by Sirenia

On amazon, someone mentioned “If you like that, try these”: and here is that list:

Evanescence, Tristania, Theatre of Tragedy, Sins of Thy Beloved, and even Nightwish or Within Temptation
